Can My Employer See Photos on My Work iPhone?
Apple does not say whether an employer can see your photos on a managed iPhone. The page lists mail, messages and Safari history as off limits, but photos are not a row. Treat a work phone as the company's, and keep private photos somewhere your employer cannot open.

What do I need to know?
- Photos are not listed. Apple's comparison table marks personal mail, notes, iMessage and Safari history as "Not allowed" for every enrollment method. Photos are not in that table.
- Your enrollment type matters. Apple says account-driven User Enrollment gives the most privacy and data separation.
- You cannot always see the setup. Ask IT whether your phone is enrolled, and how.
What can an employer's management service do?
Apple's guide says User Enrollment cannot query the device location or the list of all apps. It cannot remotely erase all content and settings either.
Other enrollment types allow more. The page does not spell out every case, so do not assume.
On a managed phone, the operating system creates separate encryption keys for work data. Apple says they are destroyed on unenrollment, and managed apps are always removed. See Apple's enrollment methods and account-driven enrollment pages.
What should I do with personal photos on a work phone?
Ask IT in writing what the phone is enrolled in. Then decide what belongs on it.
Better still, keep family and private photos on your own device. If you must keep them, back them up first and assume IT or the next owner could reach them.
Does a vault help on a work iPhone?
It limits what a person holding the phone can open. Cryptile files are AES-256-GCM ciphertext. The key comes from a pattern you draw, on the device.
There is no account and no server, and the developer never holds your keys. A different pattern opens a different vault, so nobody sees a vault list.
What this doesn't protect against
A vault cannot hide that an app is installed, and your employer may be able to see that. It cannot stop screenshots or a person watching you draw your pattern. A short pattern is weaker than a passphrase, so use 8 or more cells. If you lose both the pattern and your 9-word recovery phrase, the vault is gone. Company policy still applies to the phone.
Do it with Cryptile
Cryptile is free to start, with encrypted iCloud backup included. Plus adds more, and the app tells you when you reach it.
