When should I choose Vaulty?

  • You want the app to look like Notes or Passwords. Cryptile's alternate icons are coming, not available yet.
  • You want Face ID to open the vault.
  • You only need photos and videos, and want a short weekly plan.

When should I choose Cryptile?

  • You want no account. Keys are derived on your phone from your pattern, and we never hold them.
  • You want a decoy vault you can fill with ordinary photos, not an empty gallery.
  • You want files and secure notes too, and two plain prices.

What are the limits of Cryptile?

These apply to any pattern-based vault, ours included.

  • Short patterns are weak. A pattern is weaker than a passphrase. Use 8 or more cells.
  • Screenshots win. View-once cannot stop a screenshot.
  • No reset. Lose the pattern and the recovery phrase, and the vault is gone.
